Anil Kapoor has shared his ‘happiest memories’ from the launch of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2007 film Saawariya that marked the Bollywood debut of his daughter Sonam Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor’s and Neetu Kapoor’s son Ranbir Kapoor. Anil shared some extremely exuberant pictures of the stars from the launch event that shows Rishi and Neetu in a celebratory mood. Rishi died on April 30 after a long battle with leukaemia leaving a deep void in the film industry.
Sharing the pictures on Instagram, Anil wrote, “Remembering James.... Sharing the launch of Sonam and Ranbir’s careers with Neetu and Rishi is one of the happiest memories of my life...” The first and last picture shows Anil standing with Neetu and Rishi along with Anil’s wife Sunita Kapoor. One of the pictures also depicted Ranbir and Sonam from their young days.
Apparently, Anil used to fondly call Rishi as James because he thought the latter looked as dashing as Hollywood actor James Dean. He had shared a tribute as well for Rishi fondly calling him as James and revealing the secret behind the moniker.
Saawariya also starred Salman Khan and Rani Mukerji. However, the film could not make an impression at the box office and was a commercial failure, yet it gave a launchpad to Sonam and Ranbir who have not looked back ever since.
Rishi breathed his last at the age of 67 years at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai where he succumbed to his ailment for which had undergone treatment for a year in the US. Yesterday a prayer meet was organized on the late actor’s terahvi.
