Ajay Devgn's upcoming film Bhuj: The Pride Of India garnered the right amount of attention ever since it was announced. Directed by debutant director Abhishek Dudhaiya, the film revolves around Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who along with his team and locals reconstructed the IAF airbase in Bhuj after it was destroyed by the Pakistani army during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. While the war drama was scheduled to release on August 15 this year, it appears that the Coronavirus lockdown delayed the plans. According to a leading daily's report, the team was to shoot for a week-long final schedule but was cancelled due to the pandemic. Now, with merely three months left for Independence Day, a source close to the development told the daily that the makers might skip the initial date. As per the source, the makers of Bhuj: The Pride Of India are toying with the idea of releasing it on December 16, which is Vijay Diwas.
"A week-long stint that includes filming some action sequences featuring Ajay Devgn, is left. Initially, the makers were toying with the idea of releasing it on January 26 next year but then realised that Vijay Diwas, which commemorates India's victory in the 1971 war, is celebrated on December 16. It is only fitting that a retelling of a chapter from the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war arrive at the theatres around the same time," the source told.

Not just Bhuj: The Pride Of India, Ajay's sports biopic Maidaan has also faced the brunt of the lockdown and the source added that it will now be ready for a 2021 release. "Maidaan will be ready for release only in 2021. The makers were also contemplating a Diwali release for Bhuj, but decided against it because so many big-ticket projects are vying for the slot," the source added.
Bhuj: The Pride Of India apart from Ajay stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, Sharad Kelkar, Ammy Virk and Pranitha Subhash in important roles. Touted to be mounted on a budget of Rs. 100 crores, the war drama is produced by Ajay, Bhushan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ginny Khanuja, Vajir Singh, Abhishek Dudhaiya and Kumar Mangat Pathak under their respective film production banners of T-Series, Ajay Devgn Films and Select Media Holdings LLP.
