Nushrat Bharucha takes a plunge into the horror genre with ‘Chhori’, Hindi remake of Marathi film ‘Lapachhapi’

While actress Nushrat Bharucha has been celebrated in the rom-com space, the gorgeous actress is now all set to explore the horror genre. Today the actress announced her next project and it will surely leave her fans in eager anticipation. Nushrat who was last seen in Dream Girl will be now playing the main lead in a horror film titled Chhori. The film is a Hindi remake of the award-winning Marathi film Lapachhapi.

Considering Lapachhapi was a game-changer for its take on horror, its Hindi remake has been backed by an international production house. For Chhori, Nushrat will be working with a renowned production house, Crypt TV which had won an Oscar for its film Get Out and has been a horror content specialist in Hollywood. Now as they venture into Bollywood, they will be collaborating with Abundantia Entertainment to co-produce this film that Nushrat is shouldering.

The 2017 Marathi film caught people’s attention as it told the story of age-old societal beliefs and practices that give rise to tales of pure terror. The film’s unique blend of scary and social drama made it a thrilling as well as an emotional ride. Keeping the same essence intact, Chhori’s script which is underway is being written by Vishal Kapoor who also wrote the original. Also, the Hindi remake will be helmed by Vishal Furia who had directed Lapachhapi as well.

While Chhori’s story will totally revolve around Nushrat’s character, it will be exciting to see her in an all-new avatar on screen. Other than Chhori Nushrat has some other interesting projects in the pipeline, she will be seen in Chhalaang opposite Rajkummar Rao and in Hurdang alongside Sunny Kaushal.
