While the world is celebrating Menstrual Hygiene Day today, Akshay Kumar took to Twitter to laud the team of his path breaking film PadMan for placing their faith in a film on a ‘taboo’ subject and creating awareness about it. It was also a time for celebration as the film completed two years of its release. However, what he didn’t envision was the scolding he would get as he forgot to tag the producer of the film and his wife Twinkle Khanna while he tagged his co-stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in his tweet.
Twinkle shared his tweet and joked, “Err.... You are definitely not part of my next production! #PadMan.” When a Twitter user pointed out that Akshay forgot to tag her, she replied, “Can you believe it! Ghar Ki Murgi to another level:)”

Akshay apologized to her and replied with a tweet wherein he wrote, “Please mere pet pe laat mat maro. Missed tagging the team. Apologies to my producer, @mrsfunnybones, director #RBalki and the man without whom Padman wouldn’t be made @murugaofficial.”

On his film PadMan successfully completing two years, Akshay had written on Twitter, “It’s been 2 years to #PadMan and I’m glad we managed to push the envelope a little on this taboo subject. This #MenstrualHygieneDay, I hope we move a step closer towards ending period poverty and breaking taboos surrounding menstruation. @sonamakapoor @radhika_apte.”

With PadMan, Twinkle returned to the film industry after bidding adieu in 2000 not as an actor but as a producer. She produced the film under her banner Mrs Funnybones Movies which was based on her short story The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad that in turn was inspired by the life of Arunachalam Murugunantham who fought sneers, taunts and jibes of society to design a low-cost sanitary pad making machine. The film won the National Film Award for Best Film Other Social Issues in 2019 and was directed by R Balki.
