Bollywood's iconic and highly regarded couple Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan completed 47 years of their blissful marriage today (June 3). Celebrating the occasion and marking the milestone, Mr. Bachchan, on social media, shared unseen pictures from their wedding ceremony in 1973. The legendary actor, along with the pictures, revealed an interesting anecdote.
Mr. Bachchan, on Instagram, informed that he had decided to go to London for the first time if Zanjeer would be a success. For the unversed, the film released a couple of days before their marriage. In response to this, the superstar's father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan asked him with whom is he going with. Further, he mentioned about Jaya and his father told him to marry her before his maiden London trip. "47 years .. today .. June 3, 1973 .. !! Had decided if Zanjeer would succeed, we would along with a few friends go to London for the first time .. My Father asked who you going with ? When i told him who , he said you must marry her before you go .. else you don’t go .. So .. I obeyed .. !!" the megastar wrote.
Mr. and Mrs. Bachchan starred in films like Abhimaan, Chupke Chupke, Mili, Silsila, Zanjeer, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and many others. The couple embraced parenthood with Shweta Bachchan Nanda in 1974 and Abhishek Bachchan in 1976.
Workwise, Mr.Bachchan is gearing up for the OTT release of Shoojit Sircar's Gulabo Sitabo co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana. The film will release on June 12. Apart from that, he has Jhund, Chehre and Brahmastra on his plate.
