'I am no one to question their decisions,' says Amitabh Bachchan on Gulabo Sitabo's direct-to-web release

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Shoojit Sircar's Gulabo Sitabo is the first theatrical film to opt for a direct-to-web release. Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead roles, the quirky comedy will release on Amazon Prime Video on June 12. While theatre owners were clearly disappointed, youngsters in Bollywood too seem wary of displaying their work on the OTT instead of the 70 mm silver screen. Talking about the direct-to-web release and moving ahead with time, Mr.Bachchan, during an interview with a leading daily, placed his viewpoint and said he is nobody to question the maker's decision.

"I have sleepless nights before the shoot of my films till date. I battle each hour to increase my views on Instagram. The youngsters get 30 lakh to 40 lakh views as soon as they come on board. I go 'whoopee' in excitement when I hit a lakh. But I am no one to question their decisions," Mr.Bachchan told.

Shoojit, in previous interviews, called Mr. Bachchan hungry for work despite reigning Bollywood for years. Addressing this, the veteran actor said, "These are requisites for any professional. You need to work to your fullest creative capacity. Reuniting with Juhi Chaturvedi, writer and Shoojit is like driving a car. You live in Mumbai all your life and learn how to drive in the city; you are familiar with the traffic, the rules and regulations. Suddenly, you are asked to drive in Delhi. You don't forget how to drive, but it takes time to get familiar with the streets and the rules."

Speaking of his co-star Ayushmann, the senior actor told that he is a fan of his work. "He is a distinguished talent, and I am a fan of his work," he said.

Based on the legendary pair of puppet sisters that form an important part of Uttar Pradesh's folklore, Gulabo Sitabo will talk about the love and hate relationship between a landlord named Mirza and his tenant Baankey. It is produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar. The film is written by Juhi Chaturvedi.
