Amitabh Bachchan to help Mumbaikars navigate through the city by becoming the voice of Google Maps?

Amitabh Bachchan needs no introduction. With his recognisable majestic baritone, the actor added gravitas to films instantly, making him unique in his own way. Once rejected for his voice by All India Radio, Mr. Bachchan went on to sing his own songs, lend voiceovers to films and much more in Bollywood. As a result of his widely recognised baritone, it is rumoured that the team behind Google Maps has approached him to be the app's voice. A source close to the development told a leading daily that the Piku actor is in talks with Google but is yet to sign the contract. Currently, users of Google Maps are hearing New York-based entertainer Karen Jacobsen's voice while navigating through the corners of the city.

"Amitabh Bachchan has the most influential and recognisable baritone. Hence, he is the best choice for the voice of Google Maps. He has been approached, but the contract has not been signed yet," the source told.

As per the source, if the veteran actor accepts the offer, he will be recording his voice from home while following social distancing norms laid down by the Government of Maharashtra. In the past, Mr. Bachchan's Thugs Of Hindostan co-star Aamir Khan went behind the mic for Google Maps as a part of the film's promotion.
