On April 30, Bollywood lost one of its rare gems, Rishi Kapoor, to leukemia. Over a month later, the industry is yet to come to terms with the loss. Having lost his best friend and co-star of several films, Amitabh Bachchan walked down the memory lane and remembered the late actor fondly. The Gulabo Sitabo star, on his Instagram account, shared a picture of Rishi with Abhishek Bachchan, Karan Johar and Prateik Babbar. The picture, which appears to be clicked during an award function, featured an engrossed Rishi singing a song with passion.
"No one but no one could lip sync a song as perfectly as Rishi Kapoor .. just look at the passion in his expression .. !! Even at this age and at an event the genuineness .. simply unbeatable," Mr. Bachchan wrote.
Soon after Rishi's death, Mr. Bachchan in a heartfelt note for him, spoke about his lip-syncing ability and said his 'genuineness was beyond question'. "When he spoke his lines, you believed every word of it .. there was never an alternative .. its genuineness was beyond question .. And there has never been any other, that could lip sync a song as perfectly as he would .. never," he said.
Rishi, on April 30, passed away after a 2-year-long battle against cancer. In 2018, soon after the diagnosis, his wife Neetu Kapoor and he travelled to New York for treatment. The couple returned to Mumbai in September last year.
