Watch: ‘Mumbai Police will probe professional rivalry angle too,’ says Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death

Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely and tragic demise has left everyone visibly shaken. The internet is buzzing with heartfelt tributes as well as conspiracy theories as to what led the talented and a supposedly successful actor to take his own life. Now, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has said that Mumbai Police will probe into the alleged cause of ‘clinical depression owing to professional rivalry’ that led to Sushant’s demise. 

In his tweet, he wrote, “While the post mortem report says actor @itsSSR committed suicide by hanging himself, there are media reports that he allegedly suffered from clinical depression because of professional rivalry. @MumbaiPolice will probe this angle too.”

A controversy has erupted over the cause of death after a few Bollywood personalities including Kangana Ranaut and the netizens linked the cause of his death to professional rivalry. Sushant was found dead at his Bandra apartment on Sunday afternoon. He died by suicide and was only 34 years old. He was cremated this evening at Vile Parle crematorium in the presence of his family and industry colleagues. 

He is survived by his father and two sisters. His funeral was attended by Mukesh Chhabra, Shraddha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Varun Sharma, Vivek Oberoi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Pooja Chopra, Kriti Sanon and several others.
