Kabir Singh, which had Shahid Kapoor playing a role that goes through a self-destructive phase, had earned great numbers at the box office. Kabir Singh was a Hindi remake of Telugu film Arjun Reddy that released in 2017. Meanwhile, the actor will next be seen in the sports drama Jersey. A Hindi remake of the 2019 Telugu hit of the same name, the film's story is about a talented but failed cricketer named Arjun, who decides to make a comeback in his late thirties and play for India, in order to fulfil his son's wish. Now, looks like the actor is approached for yet another South film.
According to a leading daily Suriya-starrer Soorarai Pottru, based on the life of Air Deccan founder and pioneer of low-cost aviation in India, GR Gopinath will be remade in Hindi. Even as the film was being shot, rumours suggested that producers Suriya and Guneet Monga were keen on making it in Hindi as well. Now, it is learned that the makers have approached Shahid to play the lead.
A source said, "The film was always supposed to be made in multiple languages. Shahid enjoyed a mammoth hit in Kabir Singh last year, which was the Hindi adaptation of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy. So, he was the first choice of the makers. The actor is currently going through the script. After the leading man is locked, the team will zero in on the principal cast." If Shahid gives his nod, it will be his third South remake after the upcoming Jersey and 2019 film Kabir Singh.
Shahid is currently locked in at home with his family amid the COVID-19 pandemic!
