Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely death shook his family and Bollywood from the core. The 34-year-old actor ended his life on Sunday, leaving all in shock. While his family and friends are coming to terms with the loss, a section of social media users were busy slamming celebrities for 'not posting a picture with him with a RIP'. Kriti Sanon, who wasn't just Sushant's co-star in Raabta but a dear friend, put forth a strong statement addressing the unkind way a celebrity's death is covered on social media.
Kriti, on Instagram, penned down her thoughts in firm words. Calling social media the 'fakest and toxic place', the actress slammed those who criticise others for not posting condolence messages on someone's death. She further added that the media should maintain a dignified distance when they cover funerals and not run behind celebrities for pictures. Urging people to stop gossiping and put humanity before profession, Kriti said usage of phrases like 'ladke nahi rote' should be erased.
On Monday, Kriti's younger sister Nupur Sanon slammed trolls who took a potshot at her and the actress for not sharing any condolence post for Sushant after the news of his death broke. "Everybody has suddenly started talking about mental health on social media since yesterday...and then we have people harassing people who are actually in a state of shock, who are hurt, who are grieving ..by sending them disgusting tweets, msgs, comments for not posting on lnstagram !! ‘You are so heartless’ ‘ek post tak nahi daala’ ‘Tum logo ne ek reaction nahi diya kitne pathar dil ho tum’ These are the comments and msgs we are constantly getting !! Aap ki permission ho toh sukoon se ro sakte hain?? Please??," she wrote.
Keeping away from social media, Kriti was amongst the first celebrities to arrive at Sushant's funeral on Monday evening.
