With the Coronavirus pandemic, theatres are shut for the last three months. Not just this, shoots of several films were stalled. Now, in this situation, makers are considering a direct-to-web release for their films which were ready before the lockdown was announced but couldn't meet the deadline at theatres. After Amitabh Bachchan's and Ayushmann Khurrana's Gulabo Sitabo, filmmakers are open to a web opening. Amid this, rumours of Ananya Panday's and Ishaan Khatter's Khaali Peeli getting an OTT release did the round. Talking about the same during an interview with a leading daily, Ali Abbas Zafar, who is the producer of the film, told that the team is currently focusing on completing Khaali Peeli and will take a decision after that.
"Right now, we are focused on completing the film. After that, it will be wait-and-watch. We don’t know when the theatres will open and at what capacity they will run," Ali told.
Speaking of the film that marks his debut as a producer, Ali said that Khaali Peeli is a commercial entertainer and Ananya's-Ishaan's fresh pairing makes it interesting. "It’s a commercial potboiler and the fresh pairing of Ishaan and Ananya makes it interesting. They brought a lot of youthful energy to the shoot. Everyone had a blast and it shows in the edit," he added.
Khaali Peeli is directed by Maqbool Khan and produced by Ali with Zee Studios and Himanshu Mehra. The film features Jaideep Ahlawat as the baddie.
