On March 13 this year, the team of Anees Bazmee's much-anticipated Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 returned to Mumbai after cancelling their Lucknow schedule due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Three months later, the lead actors including Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu are yet to revisit the lavish set. Now, as the industry gears up to resume work in the next few weeks, Anees and the cast of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 are eager to restart work on the horror-comedy. However, the Uttar Pradesh Government is yet to permit shoots to take place in the state.
Talking to a leading daily, Anees said that to maintain continuity, Kartik, Kiara and the rest of the crew have to go to Lucknow to finish nearly 35 days of the shoot. The report also stated that the makers of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 are considering to wrap certain indoor portions in Mumbai before getting a go-ahead from the UP Government. "We have to go to Lucknow to finish the film. We had built a huge set and it has been standing untouched all these months. It is imperative to shoot the remaining portions there to maintain continuity," Anees told.
The producer of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Bhushan Kumar told the daily that only after the UP Government gives a go-ahead, they will resume the shoot. He added that filming will likely restsrat by September. "The safety of our cast and crew is of utmost importance to us. Only when we receive permission from the Uttar Pradesh government, will we resume work on the film. Hopefully, we will revisit Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 by September," Bhushan said.
The film is the sequel to Akshay Kumar's and Vidya Balan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007). It was originally scheduled to release on July 31, 2020.
