Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi to release on Diwali and Ranveer Singh's '83 on Christmas this 2020

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, 2020's much-anticipated major films that are Akshay Kumar's and Katrina Kaif's Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone's '83 were delayed. With theatres shut since March, fans of the actors were left disappointed. However, the makers of Sooryavanshi and '83 assured that the films will release once cinema halls reopen and when the audience's safety is guaranteed. Keeping up with their promise, directors Rohit Shetty (Sooryavanshi) and Kabir Khan ('83) dropped in a major surprise today.

After much wait, fans got to know that Sooryavanshi will be releasing on Diwali this year while the magic of '83 world cup will be recreated on Christmas this year. The Akshay-Katrina actioner and Ranveer-Deepika sports drama are said to be the first two films to release in theatres post the lockdown.

Sooryavanshi is produced by Rohit and Akshay with Karan Johar. The film will also feature Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh. It was initially scheduled to release on March 24. On the other hand, '83 orbits around the historic victory of the Indian cricket team during the 1983 world cup. It also features Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harrdy Sandhu, Nishant Dahiya, Dinker Sharma, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Jiiva, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani and Ammy Virk. It is co-produced by Madhu Mantena, Sajid Nadiadwala and Reliance Entertainment. The film was initially scheduled to release on April 10, 2020.
