My husband has given more breaks to new comers than anyone else in this industry: Soni Razdan slams a Twitter user for calling her husband Mahesh Bhatt the 'flagbearer of nepotism'

Soni Razdan has defended husband and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt from allegations of nepotism. Soni was conversing with screenwriter Apurva Asrani on Twitter about depression when a user called Mahesh the ‘flagbearer of nepotism’. Soni could not take the jibe lying down and went ahead to school the Twitterati.

Hitting back, she wrote, “You’re so ill informed. My husband has given more breaks to new comers than any one else in this industry. There was a whole long period of time where he refused to work with stars. Then he was accused of not working with stars ! Do ur homework and then talk please.”

She had previously spoken about the topic in a Twitter response to filmmaker Hansal Mehta as well. She had written, “The expectation that people have because of whose son or daughter you are is much more. Also those who r ranting about nepotism today and who have made it on their own will also have kids one day. And what if they want to join the industry? Will they stop them from doing so?”

The nepotism, favouritism and groupism debate has reignited in Bollywood after the tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Many people claimed that he was side-lined by the fraternity for being an ‘outsider’ and hence suffered professionally that resulted in depression. People have also unearthed several blind items against the actor in the wake of his death.

Mahesh’s eldest daughter Pooja Bhatt also joined the fray and wrote on the matter in a series of tweets. Check out her tweets below.
