Soni Razdan has defended husband and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt from allegations of nepotism. Soni was conversing with screenwriter Apurva Asrani on Twitter about depression when a user called Mahesh the ‘flagbearer of nepotism’. Soni could not take the jibe lying down and went ahead to school the Twitterati.
Hitting back, she wrote, “You’re so ill informed. My husband has given more breaks to new comers than any one else in this industry. There was a whole long period of time where he refused to work with stars. Then he was accused of not working with stars ! Do ur homework and then talk please.”

She had previously spoken about the topic in a Twitter response to filmmaker Hansal Mehta as well. She had written, “The expectation that people have because of whose son or daughter you are is much more. Also those who r ranting about nepotism today and who have made it on their own will also have kids one day. And what if they want to join the industry? Will they stop them from doing so?”
The nepotism, favouritism and groupism debate has reignited in Bollywood after the tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Many people claimed that he was side-lined by the fraternity for being an ‘outsider’ and hence suffered professionally that resulted in depression. People have also unearthed several blind items against the actor in the wake of his death.
Mahesh’s eldest daughter Pooja Bhatt also joined the fray and wrote on the matter in a series of tweets. Check out her tweets below.
Have been asked to comment on the hot topic Nepotism that people are raging about. As someone who hails from a ‘family’ that has launched more new talent-actors,musicians & technicians, than the entire film industry combined I can only laugh.Facts don’t find takers. Fiction does.

There was a time when the Bhatt’s were accused of having something against established actors & made to feel inferior for only working with/launching newcomers & not chasing stars. And now the same people play the nepotism card? Google & tweet guys & won’t even say think & speak.

As for Kangana Ranaut-She is a great talent,if not she wouldn’t have been launched by Vishesh films in “Gangster”.Yes Anurag Basu discovered her,but Vishesh Films backed his vision & invested in the film. No small feat. Here’s wishing her the very best in all her endeavours.

Even #Sadak2 gives birth to a brand new talent in the form of @Suniljeet72 A music teacher from Chandigarh who came to our office with no prior appointment,a dream,a harmonium & a brilliant song called ‘Ishq Kamaal’ that was absorbed into the film on first hearing by my father.

Toh yeh ‘Nepotism’ shabd se kissi aur Ko zalil karne ki koshish karo doston. The people who have found their way into the movies through the springboard we provided over the decades know what we stand for. And if they have forgotten,It’s their tragedy. Not ours.Have a great day!

I said “And if they have forgotten then it is their tragedy. Not ours”. Kindly note the usage of the word ‘If’. Please ‘report’ and desist from interpreting or rather misinterpreting someone’s comment your own way. (tweet attached for reference) https://t.co/Vg8JAGxs0w pic.twitter.com/KCCtU6fkCS
