They called each other and said, ‘Isko kaam mat do’: Amit Sadh on being ‘banned’ by TV industry due to which he made a foray in Bollywood

Amit Sadh is basking in the glory of his recently released web series Breathe: Into The Shadows is receiving. The actor who reprises his role of Inspector Kabir Sawant has garnered much applause for his tough cop act. Amit who began his acting career with popular teen series Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr said in an interview that his transition from television to films happened because he was banned by the television industry. He said he was blacklisted for being outspoken and blunt due to which he set his eye son Bollywood.

In an interview with an online portal, he said, “I did not leave television to go to the movies. In television, they banned me. They called each other and said, ‘Isko kaam mat do (Don’t give him work).’ Toh phir maine kaha, ‘Achcha? Nahi de rahe ho? Toh phir main picturon mein jaaunga (Then I said, ‘Oh? Amit admitted that he was like a ‘bull’ when he was in his early 20s, always ready for a fight. He said that he had received a call from a big television producer who informed him that he had quite a reputation on the circuit, even though he was a good actor. To this, Amit said, “Maine usko bhi bol diya, ‘Sir, galat karoge, ladunga (I told him as well, ‘If you do something wrong, I will fight)’.”

However, Amit also said that he has mellowed down as he grew older and decided to fuel his anger and frustration towards his work. He credited meeting some ‘good people’ following which his life changed for the better and he understood that there was no need to fight. Amit made his Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s Phoonk 2 in 2010 and also co-starred with Sushant Singh Rajput and Rajkummar Rao in Kai Po Che! in 2013. He followed it up with Guddu Rangeela, Sultan, Sarkar 3 and Gold.
