The Mumbai police investigating the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide appear to be scratching their heads in bewilderment. Their probe led them to take statements of two big Bollywood producers on allegations against them that are said to have caused the actor hardship in his career. While Sanjay Leela Bhansali is reported to have told the police that he was keen on casting Sushant in his period drama Bajirao, but could not do so because the actor was under contract with Yash Raj Films. It is believed that negotiations with YRF by Bhansali also did not help resolve the issue for Sushant.
However, Aditya Chopra dismissed this by telling the police there was never any discussion by Bhansali with YRF to cast Sushant in one of his films. Chopra is said to have added that if Sushant, while under contract to YRF, could do the sports biopic M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, why could he not do Bajirao?
Chopra is reported to have also said that it was unfair to blame YRF for Sushant’s loss of Bhansali’s romantic crime drama Ramleela to Ranveer Singh. He told the police that Ranveer signed Ramleela in April 2010 whereas Sushant signed the contract with YRF in November 2012. So there was no way Bhansali could say that this was the reason why he didn’t sign Sushant for Ramleela.
