John Abraham's and Emraan Hashmi's gangster drama Mumbai Saga is one of the much-anticipated films. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, the film is set in the '80s and is based on true events. Now, as the makers are gearing up to resume shooting for Mumbai Saga after four months, a leading daily's report indicates that the film will get a direct-to-web release. As per a source close to the development, the team of Mumbai Saga is planning to sign a deal with Amazon Prime Video for the film's digital premiere. As of now, both the parties are yet to agree on a figure.
"Mumbai Saga was originally envisioned as a big-screen outing, with Amazon Prime Video on board as the film's digital exhibitor. However, with the theatres showing no signs of reopening anytime soon, producer Bhushan Kumar is contemplating premiering it on the streaming platform. The discussion on the financials has begun, but the two parties have yet to agree on a figure," the source told.
The shoot of Mumbai Saga was stopped when the lockdown was announced in March. Now, with the industry resuming, director Sanjay told that the team is planning to begin from August 15. The remaining portions were to be shot in Hyderabad, due to the pandemic, but now, the cast will wrap up the gangster drama in Mumbai itself.
Mumbai Saga also features Gulshan Grover, Rohit Roy, Samir Soni, Amole Gupte, Prateik Babbar and Kajal Aggarwal. It is a Gulshan Kumar presentation, and is backed by T-Series and White Feather Films production. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Sangiita Ahir and Anuradha Gupta.
