Not Mumbai, John Abraham's 'Satyameva Jayate 2' to be shot in Lucknow

Ever since the high-octane vigilante action drama film Satyameva Jayate hit the screens in 2018 and turned out to be a big success, the audience has been looking forward to its sequel. John Abraham, who played a vigilante who goes on a corrupt cop-killing spree in the original is pairing up with Divya Khosla Kumar to bring Satyameva Jayate 2 for their fans. The film, to be directed by Milap Zaveri and produced by T-Series and Emmay Entertainment & Motion Pictures, was all set to go on floors in April but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the schedule was shifted. However, director Milap has utilised this period to work more on the script. Now, there has been a last-minute change of plans. While the film was originally set in Mumbai, the makers have now decided to shoot it in Lucknow instead.

Madhu Bhojwani, who is backing the film along with Bhushan Kumar, stated that the change of location had little to do with the shooting guidelines of the state and was prompted purely by the demand of the story. "We had earlier conceived it as a film that could have been shot in Mumbai. But as the story developed, we [realised] it lends itself beautifully to Lucknow. It was a creative decision," she said.
