Pankaj Tripathi in a recent interview with an online portal has ridiculed the public interest in the box office collection of a film. He insisted that instead they should focus on the health and education budgets of their own states and districts, rather than talking about the numbers game. He said that the interest of the public in the box office numbers worries him and this obsession on their part is unnecessary.
During the promotional interview for his upcoming film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Pankaj said, “Normal public should be concerned about the health and education budget of their states. They should know about latest government policies, education and health system and budget of their districts, instead of box office collections.” A Twitter user shared a snippet of the interview.

He further said, “I often get worried wondering why the public gets involved. They won’t get a share in the profit, is it just because you have a phone and 4G connection? How does it matter what a film earns? Will you get any of it?”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Pankaj plays the role of Anup Saxena, father of Gunjan in the film. Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is a biopic on India’s first female air force pilot who went into combat. The titular role is played by Janhvi Kapoor. The film also stars Angad Bedi, Viineet Kumar and Manav Vij and is directed by Sharan Sharma. Produced by Dharma Productions it is up for release on Netflix on August 12, 2020.
