The Supreme Court, on Wednesday morning, directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe into the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput. A single bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy held that the Bihar police had jurisdiction to register an FIR regarding Sushant's untimely demise and stated that the transfer to CBI is valid.
The Supreme Court further instructed the Mumbai police to hand over all the case files to CBI and assist them probe into the case. The court also directed the CBI to henceforth look into cases registered with regards to Sushant's demise.

Soon after the decision was announced, Vikas Singh, the lawyer of Sushant's father K.K. Singh told a media agency, "This is a victory for Sushant Singh Rajput's family. SC ruled on all points in our favour. The Court also clearly said that the FIR registered at Patna was correct. SC also said that any other FIR registered in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput's death will also be investigated by the CBI. We hope that we should get justice very soon. The family is very happy with the verdict."

Sushant. 34, died by suicide at his Mumbai residence on June 14. After an investigation by the Mumbai police, came across as a case of depression and lack of work initially. However, a month later, his father filed an FIR against the late actor's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family, accusing them of conspiracy and abetment of suicide. In the FIR, Mr. Singh claimed that Rhea and her family withdrew a huge amount of money from Sushant's bank account. He further claimed that Rhea sabotaged Sushant's plan of quitting films and taking up farming. He stated that she took away the Chhichhore actor's laptop, jewelry, credit cards and medical documents before leaving his Bandra home on June 8.
Post this, Rhea appealed that the FIR should be transferred from Patna to Mumbai.
