Sonu Sood sets up a martial arts school for 'Warrior Aaji': "We are taking care of expenses so she can make a living out of fees"

In July, a viral video of an elderly woman (now known by the name of Warrior Aaji) performing martial arts for a living surfaced on social media. Bollywood celebrities and social media users were left stunned with her craft and technique. While many came forward to help her financially, it is Bollywood's messiah of migrants-Sonu Sood who gave her a major surprise. Keeping up with the promise he made on Twitter, Sonu helped the 85-year-old Shanta Balu Pawar by setting her a martial arts and self-defence school in Pune where she will teach children the technique she is an expert in.

Talking about setting up the school, Sonu told a leading daily that after watching the viral video, he felt Warrior Aaji deserved a platform and there is no better way than a school that will take her legacy forward. "When you see such talent, you want to pass it on to other people also. That lady at this age can inspire so many people, who say things like, ‘mera toh umar hogayi hai, mujhe kuch nahi karna.’ I thought she deserved a platform and what better way to pass this talent on through a school," Sonu told.

Revealing that Warrior Aaji has named the institute as Sonu Sood Martial Arts School, the actor said she called him for the opening but couldn't attend due to pending work in Mumbai. Saying that she calls him beta, Sonu said he connected with her through video call in the past. "I wanted the school to be named after her, but she insisted that she will call it Sonu Sood Martial Arts School. When for the first time I spoke to her and bounced the idea she was very excited saying that she always wanted to come up with her own training school. So, we are taking care of the expenses and Aaji can earn and make a living out of the minimal fees from her students. She wanted me to come for the opening, she calls me beta. I connected with her through video call. I am stuck in Mumbai with a lot of work. And frankly, it is her school and I didn’t want to take away attention from her on the big day with my presence," the actor added.
