Former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, better known as Citizen Mukherjee, breathed his last at the age of 84 on August 31, 2020. The Bharat Ratna has tested COVID-19 positive and had undergone surgery for a brain clot at Army Hospital a few weeks ago. The veteran Congressman passed away after being in a deep state of comatose. Mukherjee's son Abhijit, on Twitter, shared the heartbreaking news. He said, "With a Heavy Heart, this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away in spite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers,duas & prarthanas from people throughout India! I thank all of You Folded hands."
Soon after the news broke, Bollywood celebrities offered heartfelt condolences. Akshay Kumar, on Twitter, shared a picture with Mukherjee and wrote, "Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of former President of India Shri #PranabMukherjee Sir. Vijay Varma recalled the time when the team of Pink met Mukherjee and shared a picture. "Feb 2017, Rashtrapati Bhavan. The whole #Pink team was super thrilled to take our movie to the special screening for the then Hon’ble President Pranab Mukherjee. Here’s Big B introducing the team to him. It was all so surreal.
