Former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, better known as Citizen Mukherjee, breathed his last at the age of 84 on August 31, 2020. The Bharat Ratna has tested COVID-19 positive and had undergone surgery for a brain clot at Army Hospital a few weeks ago. The veteran Congressman passed away after being in a deep state of comatose. Mukherjee's son Abhijit, on Twitter, shared the heartbreaking news. He said, "With a Heavy Heart, this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away in spite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers,duas & prarthanas from people throughout India! I thank all of You Folded hands."
Soon after the news broke, Bollywood celebrities offered heartfelt condolences. Akshay Kumar, on Twitter, shared a picture with Mukherjee and wrote, "Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of former President of India Shri #PranabMukherjee Sir. His contribution to our nation will always be remembered. Had the good fortune of sharing this special moment with him. My heartfelt condolences to his family and followers"

Vijay Varma recalled the time when the team of Pink met Mukherjee and shared a picture. "Feb 2017, Rashtrapati Bhavan. The whole #Pink team was super thrilled to take our movie to the special screening for the then Hon’ble President Pranab Mukherjee. Here’s Big B introducing the team to him. It was all so surreal. His passing brought back all these memories. They don’t make Em’ like that anymore," he wrote.
