Aditya Chopra shelves YRF Project 50 celebrations as a mark of his support to the exhibition sector

A unique and customised drive-in theatrical experience for fans through the rich library of Yash Raj Films (YRF) classics was among the upcoming 50-year celebration plans of the banner. The plan was YRF chairman and managing director Aditya Chopra's initiative to immerse cinephiles in a wave of nostalgia as he announced his new films on the 50th anniversary of YRF.

However, according to the latest media report in a leading daily, there are changes in Aditya's grand plans. Now, the filmmaker has devised a new plan and as a mark of his support to the exhibition sector, Aditya will announce the films in theatres once they are up and running again. The offerings included Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone starrer Pathan, the third instalment of the Tiger franchise featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, and a yet-untitled comedy with Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar.

"Even though there is uncertainty about when cinemas will reopen across the country, Adi has deferred the announcement so that it can be done on the big screen. The creative team has shot an elaborate audio-visual of the YRF slate that will play in cinemas before each movie. In opting for a theatrical announcement, the producer also wishes to send out the message that none of his films will pursue a digital premiere," a source said.

Earlier it was revealed that Aditya wanted Hindi cinema lovers around the world to remember the grand 50 year celebrations of YRF by giving them a full dose of nostalgia. However, the plans now seem canned for now!
