Talking about Bhupesh, his wife Chhaya Pandya, after his cancer diagnosis, told a leading daily, "Unfortunately, this is true, and my husband is suffering from stage IV cancer. He has undergone supportive care, palliative chemotherapy and palliative RT at Apollo Hospital of Ahmedabad." Bhupesh, who was in Garhi during the lockdown, developed a cough initially and was treated for the same. However, when his condition deteriorated, the family took him to Udaipur due to a lack of proper medical facilities in Garhi. When he showed no improvement, he was taken to a hospital in Ahmedabad in the last week of August where he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.
Chhaya, a school teacher in Delhi, lost her job due to the pandemic. A few friends of Bhupesh from the NSD came forward to provide financial assistance to the family. Bhupesh was seen in films like Vicky Donor and Hazaron Khwahishein Aisi.
