In 2019, it was confirmed that Rajkummar Rao is stepping into the shoes of Dharmendra in the remake of 1975's superhit Chupke Chupke. Fans of the actor were indeed excited about it. While Chupke Chupke remake's cast, apart from Rajkummar, is yet to be announced, a report of a leading daily has it that the makers are planning to begin shooting from March 2021. A source close to the development told the daily that the script is being reworked to do justice to the original and the makers are already in talks with actors for the role of Sukumar, played by Amitabh Bachchan.
"The script is undergoing some rewrites as the makers are determined to do justice to the original. They are also in talks with several actors for the role of Sukumar, professor of English masquerading as Parimal and trying to teach botany, enacted by Amitabh Bachchan in the original. The cast should be locked by December," the source told.
In October last year, Rajkummar spoke to a leading daily about Chupke Chupke's remake and said, "It’s a big responsibility to step into his shoes. The scripting is underway now. We know that we can’t match Hrishida’s standard, but we will try and put our best foot forward."
As per reports, Luv Ranjan will be directing Chupke Chupke remake, while Bhushan Kumar is said to bankroll the project under his banner T-Series.
