Union Cabinet Minister for Textiles and Women & Child Development and former actress Smriti Irani has tested positive for the novel and deadly coronavirus today. She announced about contacting the virus on social media and urged everyone who came in contact with her to get themselves checked at the earliest.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote, “It is rare for me to search for words while making an announcement; hence here’s me keeping it simple — I’ve tested positive for #COVID and would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest.”

Smriti gained prominence with her highly popular role as Tulsi Virani in Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She is currently a Member of Parliament from Amethi constituency.
