Aamir Khan's daughter Ira Khan makes a shocking revelation, says 'was sexually abused when I was 14'
On World Mental Health Day that is October 10, Aamir Khan and his former wife Reena Dutta's daughter Ira Khan spoke about being clinically depressed for 4 years. After she shared a video message on Instagram, many reached out to her for moral support and sent out positive messages. However, naysayers pulled her down by questioning her privileges. Now, a month later, Ira once again spoke to her social media followers regarding the same. In a 10-minute long video, the young filmmaker made a shocking revelation that she was sexually abused at the age of 14. Ira said she couldn't understand what the person was doing and how to confide in. She mentioned that she mailed her parents about it and got herself out of the situation.
"I was sexually abused when I was 14. At that time, I couldn't understand whether the person realised what he was doing and I didn't know how to confide in. It took me a year to be sure that the person was aware of his actions. I immediately wrote my parents an email and got myself out of that situation. Once I was out it didn't feel so bad. I was not scared anymore. It's not something that has scarred me for life," Ira said in her Instagram video.
In the video, Ira talked about her parents' separation and said that didn't traumatise her. She clarified that her family isn't 'broken'. "When I was small, my parents got divorced. But that didn’t seem like something that would traumatise me because my parents’ divorce was amicable. They are friends, the whole family is still friends. We are not a broken family by any means," Ira told.
