Director Abhishek Sharma took a major risk by releasing his film Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari in theatres right after they reopened post 8 months. Starring Manoj Bajpayee, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Diljit Dosanjh, the family entertainer released in theatres on November 15. However, it didn't open to a good footfall. According to a leading daily's report, the night shows of Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari in Mumbai's renowned Gaiety and Maratha Mandir theatres were cancelled on Monday.
As per the report, Gaiety and Maratha Mandir were willing to run the show of Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari only if 30 people were present. However, they agreed to screen the film with 15 people. Unfortunately, they had to cancel it when less than 15 people booked tickets to watch the family entertainer. Reportedly, the morning and evening shows in Maratha Mandir, though not good, had 50-60 people while Gaiety's count was much less.
Managing Director of Gaiety and Maratha Mandir, Manoj Desai confirmed the same and told the daily, "Yes, this has happened."
According to the report, Maratha Mandir witnessed more people for the 25-year-old flagship film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge's show.
