I’ve been replaced because the hero’s wife didn’t want me in the film: Taapsee Pannu on facing rejections in the industry

Taapsee Pannu completed 10 years as an actress in 2020. She started off with Telugu and Tamil cinema and then made a transition into Bollywood in 2013 with Chashme Buddoor. The actress who continues to strike the right balance between South and Hindi cinema, is one of the most promising performers. While Taapsee has some exciting projects on the cards, her journey to stardom wasn't easy. In an interview with an entertainment magazine, Taapsee revealed that she faced sexism, replacement and was also told to cut down her fees citing budget issues.

"I’ve been replaced because the hero’s wife didn’t want me to be part of the film. I was dubbing for one of my films and I was told that the hero didn’t like my dialogue so I should change it. When I refused to change it, they got a dubbing artiste to do it behind my back. There was a time when I was told the hero’s previous film didn’t work, so you slash your price because we need to control the budget," Taapsee told.

The 33-year-old actress further added that a hero wanted to change her introduction scene as he felt it would 'overpower' his. "These are the things that have happened in front of me, I don’t know what’s happened behind my back. I decided that from now on, I will only take up films that will make me genuinely happy to go to work," Taapsee said.
