We will never allow that to happen: BJP MLA to Om Raut after Saif Ali Khan claims 'Adipurush' will justify Raavan's abduction of Sita

Saif Ali Khan is reuniting with his Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior director Om Raut for his upcoming mythological project Adipurush. The film stars Prabhas in the role of Lord Ram and Saif is Raavan. The pan-India film has garnered much attention since its announcement and will go on floors early next year. However, Adipurush has waged a new war on social media. Saif, in an interview with a leading daily, claimed that the magnum opus will make Raavan humane and justify Sita's abduction.

Talking about the character, Saif added that Adipurush will up the entertainment quotient by showing what led to the war between Raavan and Ram. "It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off his nose," Saif told.

This statement of Saif didn't go down well with many, including BJP MLA Ram Kadam. Mr. Kadam, on Twitter today, lashed out at the makers and warned director Om that such portrayal of Raavan won't be accepted. "Actor #SaifAliKhan makes an extremely shocking statement regarding his forthcoming film Adipurush. Saif who plays Ravan's character says Ravan's abduction of Sita Maa will be justified in the film. Ravan's humane side will be shown and his war against Sri Ram will be justified. Director @OmRaut director, you made #Tanhaji which was well received worldwide bcz it does justice to Hindu pride and Marathi asmita. But if #Adhipurush plans to show Ravan in positive light and justify the inhuman act of abduction of Sita Maa, we will never allow that to happen. Hope better sense prevails #JaiShriRam," he said.

Twitter users slammed Saif and demanded a replacement. One user wrote, "#SaifAliKhan names his child after a cruel ruler Taimur. He quoted that there was no concept of “India”before Britishers. The final nail in the coffin is him justifying abduction of Maa Sita by Ravan," while the other said, "Remove #SaifAliKhan and give clarification about his words ASAP before further damage. If what he said is true then please change your movie script. "

Adipurush is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair. It will release in theatres on August 11, 2022. Adipurush will be shot in Hindi and Telugu and dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
