Priyanka Chopra Jonas flouts COVID-19 lockdown rules in London by visiting salon; actress’ spokesperson issues clarification

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been caught on camera in London apparently breaking the city’s strict new COVID-19 lockdown rules. A British tabloid revealed the photographs of the actress entering a hair salon in the posh Notting Hill district on Wednesday evening. Priyanka is in London for the shot of her film Text For You. The photos of the actress soon went viral on social media.

According to the report, Priyanka entered the salon just before 5 pm on Wednesday with her mother Madhu Chopra, an assistant and her pet dog. The salon is owned by the celebrity hairstylist Josh Wood. Half an hour later after Priyanka’s entry, policemen arrived at the salon to ask the customers to leave the salon. The tabloid quoted a spokesperson for the actress who clarified and said, “Following government guidance, Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ hair was coloured by Josh Wood for the purpose of the film she is currently shooting. The salon was opened privately for the production and everyone involved had been tested and followed both the DCMS working guidelines and the film production regulations. As per Film London and current government advice, by continuing to follow the approved COVID-19 guidance, Film and TV production can continue in the Capital and locations can continue to accommodate shoots and recces that are carried out in-line with the guidance.”

According to the tier-5 coronavirus restrictions imposed in London and personal care facilities like beauty salons and parlours have to remain closed to the public and undergo strict measures as complete lockdown in place. Since the imposition of tier-5 restrictions, the British government has moved to impose fines up to £10,000 - and greater police enforcement of the new regulations.

Priyanka, along with her husband Nick Jonas and mother Madhu is in London for her film’s shoot. Text For You also stars Celine Dion and Sam Heughan.
