Vicky Kaushal's 'The Immortal Ashwatthama' looks completely different from the idea that I have: Kannada filmmaker Anup Bhandari on his film based on the same subject

Actor Vicky Kaushal on Monday released the first set of posters of his superhero film with his Uri: The Surgical Strike director Aditya Dhar, on the 2019 military action film's second anniversary. The actor increased the excitement as he shared a couple of posters of the new film, titled The Immortal Ashwatthama.

Incidentally, there is another film based on Ashwatthama that will have Shivarajkumar in the lead and will be directed by Avane Srimannarayana fame Sachin B Ravi too. When a leading daily spoke to Kannada director Anup Bhandari, he said that going by the posters of the Bollywood film his film will be different. "I've seen the posters and this looks completely different from the idea that I have. Those into Indian mythology will understand the relevance of a character like Ashwatthama and it is hence not surprising that he will end up being the subject of multiple projects."

In an earlier interview, Anup had said, "Ashwatthama was one of the most popular characters of the Mahabharatha. He was a courageous warrior and fought on behalf of the Kauravas. Circumstances, though, lead him to be cursed by Krishna who wills that Ashwatthama will live for 3,000 years and roam the earth in distress. So, is Ashwatthama still around, living with us in the present? This forms the crux of the story."

Sara Ali Khan will reportedly be featuring in Vicky's The Immortal Ashwatthama which is said to go on floors in April this year.
