After sailing through a tough time last year, Bollywood entered 2021 to receive yet another shocking news. The legendary Hindustani classical musician, Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, passed away today at the age of 90. He breathed his last due to Sepsis at 1:45 PM. He was a recipient of Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. His daughter-in-law Namrata Gupta Khan confirmed the news of his demise on Facebook.
"With a very heavy heart, I inform you all that my father-in-law the pillar of our family and a legend of our nation, Padma Vibhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan sahab has left for his heavenly abode few mins ago. Inna Lillah Hi Wa Inna Elaihi Ra’jaooun! May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannat Ul Firdaus," Namrata wrote along with a picture of Ustad.
Belonging to the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana, Ustad was a guru to Asha Bhosle, Hariharan, A R Rahman, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Waheeda Rahman, Manna Dey and many others. The first film he sang for was in Marathi, Chand Pretticha.
