During the Coronavirus-induced lockdown, the Government had set up various relief funds for daily wage workers. PM-CARES and Maharashtra CM Relief Fund played an important role in the lives of the needy. Several Bollywood celebrities contributed to the funds. Varun Dhawan and Rohit Shetty were among those to donate generously. Now, at a recently held award function, the actor and filmmaker were felicitated for their humanitarian efforts.
Reportedly, Varun had donated Rs 30 lakh to PM-CARES and Rs 25 lakh to the Maharashtra CM relief fund. Not just this, it is said he distributed free meals to the workers as well as healthcare staff. Urmila Matondkar presented the award to Varun. Rohit had organised eight hotels to accommodate police officers across the city. He supported the police personnel by paying their medical bills at Saifee Hospital. He also provided help to @SakalMediaNews jubilee awards. The award ceremony was held on Friday at Prabhadevi’s Ravindra Natyamandira in Mumbai. It was organised to recognised the contribution of citizens during the unprecedented crisis in the country that resulted in the loss of life and livelihood.
