PeepingMoon, on January 30, 2021, exclusively informed its readers that Rakul Preet Singh will be romancing Ayushmann Khurrana in his upcoming film, Doctor G. Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, Rakul will play a medical student. Now, days later, Rakul confirmed signing the high-concept film.
Rakul, on Twitter, wrote, "And finally super happy to share this with you all !! Dr Uday and Dr Fatima coming soooon." Junglee Pictures, the production house, shared a picture of the actress on Instagram and wrote, "Introducing the next doctor to the cast of our next film Doctor G, Rakul Preet Welcome onboard!"

Doctor G is about Ayushmann's character, the only male gynecologist in the whole department. It revolves around his character who for nonforcible reason has to choose gynecology as his specialisation. The film will highlight how his profession changes him as a person. Doctor G is written by Sumit Saxena, Vishal Wagh and Saurabh Bharat.
