The 93rd Academy Awards is one of the much-awaited ceremonies of this year. It was scheduled to take place on February 28 but it has been postponed to April 25. With two months left for the main ceremony, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced shortlists in nine categories for the 93rd Academy Awards. The categories are - Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film and Visual Effects.
The Malayalam film, Jallikattu, which was selected as the official Indian entry in the Best International Feature Film category, didn't make it to the shortlist. Directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, the film starred Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abdusamad and Santhy Balachandran. It revolved around a buffalo that flees from a slaughterhouse in a remote hill town of Kerala, and how the entire townsfolk end up in its hunt.
On the other hand, Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga, Tahira Kashyap Khurrana and Ruchikaa Kapoor's Indian Women Rising's maiden project Bittu made it to the shortlist.
