Ayan Mukerji's upcoming directorial Brahmastra is the talk of the town for several years now. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Mouni Roy, the mythological-fantasy film has been delayed multiple times due to its heavy post-production and long shoot schedules. It was finally scheduled to release on December 4 last year, but unfortunately, COVID-19 postponed it once again. Now, almost after a year, Ayan and the team have reportedly planned to resume shoot in Mumbai next week.
A source close to Brahmastra told a leading daily that Ayan had almost completed the shoot before COVID-19 outbreak. During the lockdown, the director reportedly worked on the VFX and editing. Reportedly, only a small portion is yet to be shot and the production design team has to build a set at a Kandivali-based studio before February 18.
"Ayan had almost completed filming the superhero drama, in keeping with the December 4 release date. While he utilised the lockdown to speed up the VFX work and editing, a small portion remains to be shot. The production design team has a week to build the set in the Kandivali studio before Ayan begins shooting on February 18. He has chalked out a week-long stint with the leads, post which it will be a wrap for the project," the source told.
Brahmastra is produced by Karan Johar under his banner Dharma Productions.
