Amole Gupte, director of Parineeti Chopra-starrer Saina has finally opened up about the social media trolling the film’s poster received by netizens recently. The netizens claimed that the badminton serve on the poster looked like a tennis serve and many said that the makers got confused between Saina Nehwal (a badminton player) and Sania Mirza (a Lawn Tennis player) as they claimed ‘Saina doing a Sania’. However, now, Gupte has reacted to the poster claiming that the people did not understand the concept behind the poster of the biopic which is based on Saina Nehwal’s triumphs.
Taking to Facebook, Gupte wrote, “Too much speculation in the digital media about the poster 'looks like a tennis serve Saina doing a Sania' etc etc If Saina is the flying shuttle, then clearly, the girl’s hand with the National colours wristband is the hand of the Indian Girl Child aspiring to reach Saina’s height!!! (sic)."
Too much speculation in the digital media about the poster... “looks like a tennis serve... Saina doing a Sania” etc...

He also praised Rahul Nanda for designing the poster and wrote, “High Concept Poster by Rahul Nanda has to be unfortunately explained in detail to a quick reacting, impatient world not stopping to think before rubbishing anything!!! Socho!!! (sic).”
Isn’t that a tennis serve ? Seems like a SANIA fan made the SAINA poster

The poster is more suited for a Sania Mirza's biopic than Saina Nehwal's.

The film Saina received a lot of flak for its poster as a Twitter user claimed, “In baddy no one tosses the shuttle. This looks like a tennis serve. Basic mistake (sic)” while another wrote, “Isn’t that a tennis serve? Seems like a SANIA fan made the SAINA poster (sic).”
The film is slated to release theatrically on March 26, 2021.
