Ajay Devgn is currently riding high on the success of Abhishek Bachchan's The Big Bull which was produced by him under the banner Ajay Devgn Ffilms. Now, the actor-producer has joined hands with Siddharth Roy Kapur, founder and MD of Roy Kapur Films, to produce a comedy-drama film, titled GOBAR!. According to reports, GOBAR! will be set in North India, also known as the cow belt of India, during the '90s. GOBAR!, which mean cow dung in English, is said to be inspired by real events.
Talking about the film, Ajay said that the story is unique, relatable and incredibly funny. "The story of GOBAR! is at once unique, relatable, and incredibly funny, as well as gripping and entertaining to the point that I’m confident it will compel people to go to the theatres. We are very clear about the impact we want to make. We want viewers to laugh, relax, perhaps think a little bit and be entertained," Ajay told in the statement.
Siddharth added, "GOBAR! is a story that chronicles the seemingly pointless but ultimately heroic journey of a simple citizen who deals with corruption in a way that will bring on many laughs, much adventure, and ultimately a simple message about the power of the common man. What makes the film entertaining and unique is that it is a situational comedy that sheds light on the inner workings of power."
According to reports, GOBAR! revolves around a veterinarian who learns about the corrupt practices of the local state hospital and decides to stand against them. The film will be directed by Sabal Shekhawat. The cast of the film is yet to be locked and reports suggest the principal photography will begin by the end of the year.
Workwise, Ajay is directing and starring in Amitabh Bachchan-Rakul Preet Singh and Boman Irani's Mayday. He will be seen in Bhuj: The Pride of India, Gangubai Kathiawadi and Thank God. Siddharth is producing Pippa starring Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur and Priyanshu Painyuli.
