'He had tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from Kumbh Mela,' confirms Shravan Rathod's son Sanjeev Rathod

Bollywood lost another gem to COVID-19 on Thursday. Legendary music composer Shravan Rathod of Nadeem-Shravan fame succumbed to the virus at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife Vimladevi and sons Sanjeev and Darshan. While the film industry is mourning the irreplaceable loss, Vimladevi, Sanjeev and Darshan have also tested positive for COVID-19. Talking to a leading daily about his father's sudden demise, Sanjeev shared that the music composer contracted the virus during his trip to Kumbh Mela in Haridwar.

He further added that his brother Darshan, who is quarantined at home, has been given permission to do the last rites. "We had never thought our family would have to go through such tough times, my father passed away, I am Covid positive and so is my mother. My brother is also positive and is in home isolation, but since our father has died, he is being allowed to do the final procedures to do last rites for our father," Sanjeev told.

Sanjeev and his mother are in Sevenhills hospital. "My mother, Vimladevi, and I are at Sevenhills, she is in the bed right next to me and she is inconsolable, but we both are recovering," he added.

Reacting to rumours of the hospital not giving Shravan's body for the funeral, Sanjeev said, "There were some rumours that the hospital is not giving us our father’s body following an issue with billing, but it is untrue, the hospital has been very supportive and they did everything they could to help my father."
