I can't take Chulbul Pandey from Dabangg & Radhe back home, my parents would 'phatkao' me: Salman Khan

Salman Khan is more for larger-than-life films with grounded characters. From bashing 50-60 goons to performing daredevilry stunts, the superstar ensures fans get enough seeti-maar moments. Now, after making everyone wait for a long time, Salman is giving Eidi by releasing Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai in limited theatres and OTT. The Prabhudeva actioner will premiere on May 13. Ahead of Radhe's release, Salman sat down for interaction with the media on Monday.

During the interaction, when PeepingMoon asked the superstar whether he chooses flamboyant yet relatable characters consciously, he said, "When I hear a script, if I do not want to leave all the other films that I have signed and want to do that script asap, I don’t do that film. So, I have to like the script in the first narration and then after that, we can keep on adding stuff and everything. So, I think- if it’s like, “Okay, maybe we can work around something in this”, then I will never touch that. I also know that in my growing up days, which I feel like it was just yesterday when I came out of the theatre, I wanted to be like the hero. So, I don’t see how different I am from the rest of the population. I still feel that when I see a film, I want to be like that person. I get very impressed by the goods and deeds that happen in the movies by the main leads. I get very impressed by that so I try to take that back home. Even the films that I do, apart from that action. For example, Dabangg is a character. I can’t take that character back home. Radhe is a character, I can’t take back that character. I can’t walk around in front of my parents as Chulbul Pandey. My dad would hit me, my mom would slap me and my brothers and sisters would be embarrassed of me. So, I am at home as a son and as a brother. On-screen, this is a character that we portray but even in that character, there’s a lot of good that happens with heroism and stuff like that," Salman told.

Salman further added that he would take a character like Bajrangi Bhaijaan home. "So, I would rather be somebody like Bajrangi Bhaijaan. So, that is the character that I take and whatever I feel that I can do on-screen is what I can do in real life too. Even if I take 15-20% of the character that I do on screen, not only mine but other person’s characters home- I feel my job is successful. So, I keep that in mind. I don’t take the flirting and the love story back home with the heroines, nor do I take all the action, beating up 50-60 people, chopper sequences. I don't have that in me. That’s a self-obsessed or egoistic person. I know what my capacity is, I know how much I can do and I know how much the stunt double can do. I don’t take that back home but I take a bit of the goodness back," he shared.
