Rakhi Sawant feels Salman Khan 'adopted her' because of her genuine nature, says 'I don't follow heroines'

Rakhi Sawant, who entertained everyone with her successful stint in Salman Khan's controversial show Bigg Boss 14, has now revealed why the superstar 'adopted' her. She said it was because of her genuine and real nature that Salman accepted her.

Reacting to a fan's comment praising her about being 'genuine', Rakhi Sawant told Bollywood Hungama in Hindi, "How long can a person keep up appearances? How long can one sustain a lie? That's why I've never pretended to be someone I'm not. Accept me for who I am. Salman Khan adopted me, Bigg Boss adopted me, fans adopted me, God adopted me... For who I am."

She continued, "Guys, I can't change myself. People pretend to belong to high society, they follow each other blindly. If someone wears a certain kind of outfit, others will follow. I don't know why. Make your own style, whatever suits you. Don't follow heroines. I don't wear branded costumes, I do what feels right in my heart."

For the unversed, Rakhi's mother Jaya Sawant was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in her gallbladder. She was admitted to the hospital earlier this year and later, the tumour was removed successfully. Rakhi, who participated in Bigg Boss 14, as a Challenger, recorded a video for the show's host Salman Khan before her mother's surgery to thank him for all his help. In the video, Mrs. Sawant revealed Salman has funded her cancer surgery and called him an 'angel'.
