In a sad turn of events, actress Mandira Bedi lost her husband filmmaker Raj Kaushal, to cardiac arrest on June 30. Raj, a known producer, was 49 years old. Soon after the producer's demise, several photos from his funeral went viral on social media. One of the pictures showed his wife Mandira carrying Raj's bier and also performing his last rites. While several people lauded Mandira's step, a large section on the internet trolled the actress for taking up a 'man's duty'.
Singer Sona Mohapatra was quick enough to come out in support of Mandira. She mentioned in a tweet on Friday how Mandira was being pulled down online for performing the rituals and for her choice of clothes. "That some people are still commenting on Mandira Bedi’s dress code or choice to carry out her husband Raj Kushal’s last rites shouldn’t surprise us. Stupidity is more abundant than any other element in our world after all," she wrote.
