Yesteryear actress Mandakini keen on making a comeback to Bollywood, open to working in web series and films

After staying away from the limelight for two decades, yesteryear actress Mandakini is all set to make her comeback to silver screen. The actress had made a scintillating debut in Raj Kapoor’s Ram Teri Ganga Maili in 1985 opposite Rajiv Kapoor. As per media reports, the actress is at present readings scripts and will soon decide which project will mark her comeback.

Mandakini’s manager Babubhai Thiba told a leading daily, “Mandakini is definitely making a comeback and at present reading scripts and inviting narrations, too. She is open to working in web series and films, but wants to play central characters in the projects."

Apparently, it was the actress’ brother Bhanu who convinced her to return to acting. Bhanu said, “When she would visit Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata, I could see that she still has a huge fan following. So, I told her that she must start acting again. She was offered the central role in a serial called Chhoti Sarrdarni, which Mandakini refused but she suggested Anita Raaj’s name for the role instead."

Mandakini is ensuring that her comeback project is the right one and hence is taking time to choose her next venture. She was last seen in a Bengali film titled Se Amar Prem that release in 2002. The actress has worked in 48 films in a career spanning 17 years. Mandakini also worked in several Telugu films besides dabbling in Hindi and Bengali films.
