Kartik Aaryan to play a pilot in Hansal Mehta's Captain India, first look unveiled

Kartik Aaryan is on a roll! The actor, who is deemed as Bollywood's future superstar, has some interesting projects in the pipeline. Kartik, majorly known for light-hearted rom-coms, has been signing thrillers and content-driven films of late. Now, giving fans a big Friday surprise, Kartik announced his next film. Titled Captain India, the film will be directed by Hansal Mehta. 

Captain India is said to be inspired by one of India’s successful rescue missions from a war-torn country. Kartik will be stepping into a completely different territory and will play the role of a pilot. His character will spearhead one of the biggest humanitarian operations ever. In the process, he will display bravery and courage. Sharing his look from Captain India, Kartik wrote, "When a man goes beyond the call of duty  With great pride and honour, we bring to you #CaptainIndia."

Ronnie Screwvala is producing Captain India under his banner RSVP along with Harman Baweja's Baweja Studios who will be the writer of the film too. Vicky Bahri of Baweja Studios will serve as the co-producer and RSVP's Sonia Kanwar will be the Associate Producer. Captain India will go on floors early next year.

In a statement, Kartik said, "Captain India is inspiring and thrilling in equal measure and it gives me great pride & honour to be a part of such a historic chapter of our country. I have immense respect for Hansal Sir’s body of work and this was the perfect opportunity to collaborate with him."

Hansal added, "Captain India which is inspired by true events will revisit a moment in time where a man goes beyond his own pain and suffering to save thousands. I’m happy to collaborate with Ronnie Screwvala and Harman Baweja on the film and I look forward to working with Kartik."

Talking about the film, producer Ronnie shared, "Captain India is not just a story of one of the biggest humanitarian operations ever but also about the indomitable human spirit, one that rises above failure despite the odds. Hansal Mehta is one of the finest filmmakers of our time and has always beautifully captured the true essence of humane stories. Kartik Aaryan’s fans are surely in for a treat as he steps into all-new territory with Captain India."
