Neeraj Chopra has made each and every Indian proud today. The athlete won India’s first gold medal in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020. He becomes the first Indian to win a medal in Athletics at the Olympics, clinching the gold in Javelin with a jumbo throw of 87.58 meters. With Neeraj’s win, India bagged its seventh medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj became only the second Indian after Abhinav Bindra to bag a gold medal at the Olympics in individual event.
Neeraj’s feat sent wave of jubilation throughout the country as citizens savoured the mammoth achievement by looking at the Indian National Anthem and the Indian National Flag being unfurled at the podium. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Neeraj on his achievement.
