Completely nonsensical news: Lara Dutta clarifies her 'wedding prediction' for Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt

"I believe that they are getting married this year,” said Lara Dutta in an interview about Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's eagerly-awaited wedding. This statement of Lara gave another reason for Ranbir and Alia's fans to celebrate. However, it seems the actress was misquoted. As Lara's prediction became the trending story of the week, she issued a clarification.

Lara, on Twitter, clarified that she is not someone who predicts the future. She tweeted, "As lovely a couple as both these actors make, I’m certainly no seer or soothsayer to predict any such thing! Media needs to stop putting words in our mouth and coming up with completely nonsensical news!"

In December 2020, Ranbir had confirmed in an interview that he and Alia would have sealed the deal last year had the pandemic not hit their lives. "Well, I think it (the wedding) would have already been sealed had the pandemic not hit our lives. But I don’t want to jinx it by saying anything. I am going to tick mark that goal very soon in my life," he told.

Recently, when Ranbir's cousin Karisma Kapoor visited the dance reality show Super Dancer: Chapter 4 as a special guest, she was asked to name the actors in the Kapoor family. Judge and filmmaker Anurag Basu, who happens to be Ranbir's close friend, suggested that Alia should also be counted as a Kapoor now. Karisma smiled but refused to speak anything on the matter.
