Sonu Sood meets Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, becomes the brand ambassador for AAP's 'Desh Ka Mentor' programme

When the Coronavirus-induced lockdown made the situation grim for migrants and low-income groups, Sonu Sood emerged as the messiah to guide them to a brighter future. Over the last 16-17 months, Sonu's exemplary work towards society has won hearts and goodwill. Sonu has chosen to keep doing his philanthropic work without getting into politics. Today, the real-life superhero met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

During a press conference, Mr Kejriwal announced that Sonu has been named the brand ambassador for the 'Desh Ka Mentor' programme. Delhi Chief Minister shared that the initiative will guide students in making their career choices. The chief of the Aam Aadmi Party requested educated people to step forward and contribute towards the initiative by mentoring students of poor backgrounds from the city studying in government schools. "Some of the students in government schools come from very poor backgrounds and there are very few people to guide them. We are appealing to educated people to become mentors for these children. Sonu Sood will be our brand ambassador for the programme," Mr Kejriwal said.

He added, "We are thankful to Sonu Sood for taking out time from his busy schedule. He is an inspiration for the entire country. Thousands reach out to him for help. This is a sort of miracle that he has been doing what so many governments have not been able to do. We had a long chat about his work and shared the work of the Delhi government with him."

Sonu shared, "Today, I have been given an opportunity to mentor lakhs of students. There is no greater service than guiding students. I am sure together we can and we will."

Clarifying that there was no discussion about politics, Sonu said, "There was nothing political... I have always been saying this. Politics was not discussed. This is a bigger issue... I don't think there can be a bigger issue. People always say, 'If you want to do good work then come to politics ...' It is a wonderful field... but we didn't discuss."
